New Delhi, April 29
The Delhi police crime branch today claimed to have shot dead two criminals in an early morning encounter near the Wazirabad area of north Delhi. The duo was involved in several cases of kidnapping and crimes and had links with “Khalistan Commando Force.”

The sleuths also claimed to have recovered two foreign made pistols, a Maruti Esteem car and some posters and pamphlets of a candidate belonging to a political party.

Joint Commissioner (Crime) B.K. Gupta said the criminals Jagtar Singh alias Jaggu (32), resident of Mansa in Punjab, and Ravinder Singh alias Ravi, alias Ranga, a resident of Sriganganagar in Rajasthan, were involved in the recent kidnapping in Sonepat besides some terrorist acts. Jagga and Ranga had last month kidnapped a businessman from Sonepat in Haryana.

The inter-state cell based on secret information found the two criminals moving in a van when they were intercepted. When they tried to escape, the sleuths opened fire and the two were killed in an encounter. In the exchange of fire, the police vehicle was reportedly damaged.
