IAF chopper crashes, pilot killed

Srinagar, April 22
An Indian Air Force Cheetah helicopter crashed in the Uri sector near the LoC this afternoon, killing the pilot and injuring co-pilot.

A defence spokesman said here that a court of inquiry had been ordered into the crash, which took place during a hill flying training session. Bad weather conditions in the region were reported to be cause of the crash.

The pilot killed has been identified as Sq Ldr A. Tripathi. The co-pilot Flt Lt. R.K. Mishra, was shifted to the 92 Army base hospital here.
