Los Angeles, April 22
Pop star Michael Jackson was indicted in a child-molestation case by a grand jury in California, the US television network ABC reported on Wednesday.
ABC said yesterday the precise charges against the self-styled ‘’King of Pop’’ were not known.
The grand jury, panel of citizens that investigates crimes, had met for 13 days in Santa Barbara, California, in the case, in which Jackson, 45, is accused of getting a 12-year-old boy drunk and molesting him.
The indictment means that the grand jury believed there was enough evidence
in the case for Jackson to face charge.
Jackson was arrested in November. Two
months later, he pleaded not guilty to seven counts of lewd acts upon a child
and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent to a child. He was freed on
3 million dollars’ bond.
Jackson has called the allegations a scam to extort money from him.
