Warrant against 2 doctors in Bilqis rape case

Ahmedabad, April 22
A local court today issued arrest warrants against two doctors, charged with tampering post-mortem reports of the victims, in the post-Godhra Bilqis Bano gangrape case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate S M Padhya today issued warrants against the husband and wife duo of Arun Kumar Prasad and Sangeeta, whose names figured in the CBI chargesheet which was filed before the court on April 19.

They were charged with tampering with post-mortem reports of the victims, who were murdered during the post-Godhra riots.

The court on April 19 had issued summons against the duo and four police officers, asking them to be present in person before the court today. But the duo was not present in the court today.

Meanwhile, the court asked four police officers, including former Dahod Deputy Superintendent of Police R S Bagora and Sub-Inspector of Limkheda Ramjibhai Patel to appear in person in the court before April 30.

“All four figured in the CBI chargesheet.

“The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a chargesheet in the Bilqis Bano case,” on April 19, naming 20 accused in all, including the doctor couple and the four police officers.

“All four police officers were part of the primary investigation process of the case,’’ said defence counsel and senior advocate Arvind Pandya here. — UNI
