PM accepts verdict in Best Bakery case

Bangalore, April 14
Even as BJP leaders were busy defending Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the Best Bakery case, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said he accepted the verdict of the apex court and would abide by it.

To a question on the Supreme Court ordering retrial and transferring the Best Bakery case to Maharashtra, Mr Vajpayee told reporters he had nothing to comment on the apex court’s order.

The Prime Minister, who garlanded a bust of Dr B. R. Ambedkar on his 113th birth anniversary, reiterated that he was opposed to personal attacks during electioneering. Describing the Lucknow stampede as an “unfortunate and grave tragedy”, Mr Vajpayee dismissed that the incident has dented his image. — UNI
