Invited
: Dr Rajinder Gill, a lecturer in the Department of Music, Punjabi University, has been invited to present his paper on ‘Punjabi folk music’ at Punjabi Conference on Punjab architecture, art, beliefs, ceremonies, literature and music being held at the University of California, USA. The conference is being held on May 29.

Honoured: The International Study Circle honoured Dr Harshinder Kaur with the Rashtriya Rattan award and a gold medal for her outstanding contribution in the field of medicine.

Free medical camp: The Homoeopathic Education and Research Foundation organised a free homoeopathic medical check-up camp here on Sunday. The Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Mr Vishnu Sharma, inaugurated the camp. Free medicines were distributed among the patients on the occasion.

PANCHKULA
MEDICAL CAMP: Over 750 persons were examined at a medical camp held at the Mansa Devi Complex here on Sunday. According to information, doctors from the local General Hospital examined the persons for various diseases at the camp organised jointly by the Health Department and residents’ welfare association. Meanwhile, 116 persons donated blood at a blood donation camp organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Sangathan at DC Model Senior Secondary School here, on Sunday.

Cultural programme
: A scintillating cultural programme was held to mark the golden jubilee celebration of SA Jain Senior Model School, Ambala city. Mr Ashok Oswal was the chief guest while Ms Manju Oswal presided over the function. The first half of the programme dealt with the current fusion trend while the second half highlighted the Haryanvi culture. The students danced to the popular number `Chandu Ke Chachi...”. Lok Utsav was well received by the audience.

Meeting: The third get-together of alumni association of SD College (Lahore) was held on Saturday. About 250 former students attended the meeting. After an hour-long fellowship, a cultural programme was presented by present and former students of the college. The college Principal, Dr Desh Bandhu, said SDians were holding key positions in different fields and highlighted the achievements of the college. Dr N.K. Sharma, convenor, appealed to the former students to contribute generously towards development of the college.
