DC launches Rs 3,139 cr credit plan

The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Anurag Verma, today launched the annual credit plan pegged at Rs 3,139 crore for the district. Addressing a meeting held at Bachat Bhavan here, Mr Verma said this year the credit plan had been increased by 13 per cent.

Workers pledge support to Tiwari
Ludhiana, April 8
Hundreds of labourers working in various government and private sector agencies today pledged their support to the Congress candidate from this parliamentary constituency, Mr Munish Tiwari. They observed that the Congress was the only party which could take care of the interest of the workers.

Mr Gurcharan Singh Galib who has been denied the Congress ticket from Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat has denied that he was quitting the Congress and joining the Akali Dal. These were fabricated reports, he said.

I am being threatened, alleges father of dead infant

Mr Sukhdev Singh, whose infant had died due to the alleged “negligence of a doctor couple here recently, has alleged that he was being threatened by some unidentified persons. Fearing danger to his life, Sukhdev Singh, yesterday lodged a formal complaint in police station division number 8.

Labourer held on murder charge
Ludhiana, April 8
The local police has solved the murder case of a migrant labourer, Mansa Devi, with the arrest of Anil Kumar, a labourer. The woman was murdered on April 5 due to enmity. The DSP, Mr R.K. Bakshi, and the SHO, Focal Point, Mr Surinder Mohan, told mediapersons this evening that the accused strangled her at her residence.

Fancy dress show at KVM
Ludhiana, April 8
The kindergarten section of Kundan Vidya Mandir looked colourful with little ones dressed up in mesmerising attires during a fancy dress competition held here today. Kids came up dressed like various television and cinema characters like Jassi, Sonpari, Pokeman, Superman, Batman and Munna Bhai MBBS. There were others who came up dressed like netaji, sadhu, vegetable-seller, bangle seller and kabbadiwallah.

Ms Kamaljeet Kaur, District Social Security Officer, today inspected drug de-addiction centre being run by Dr D.N. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital, Salem Tabri. She was satisfied with the treatment given with acupuncture therapy to patients suffering from chronic and complicated diseases.
