Stop unfair TV ads, EC tells Ministry
New Delhi, March 27
Taking serious note of various complaints about surrogate and unfair advertisements in television channels, the Election Commission today directed the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to take “appropriate action” against advertisements that are “slanderous in nature” and violative of the advertisement code.

Kolkata IIM accepts cut in fee
New Delhi, March 27
The Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, has decided to accept reduction in fee as proposed by the Central Government while the IIM, Bangalore, today authorised its Chairman to take a decision in this regard.

The second round of talks between Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and the All-Party Hurriyat Conference were held here today and both sides agreed to hold “substantive talks” in June by when the new government would be in place.

India, Pak to release prisoners

Both India and Pakistan have agreed to release some prisoners who have been languishing in various jails of both countries on reciprocal basis. Such prisoners could not be repatriated despite completion of their sentence due to lack of their identification in the past.

A clarification

Their wait for train ends after 21 years
Udhampur, March 27
Residents of tiny hamlets on hilly terrain between Jammu and Ghambhir (Udhampur) came out of their mud houses today to see the train they were waiting for the past 21 years. This was a trial run of a train which had top officers of the Northern Railway and mediapersons that went up to the Ghambhir nullah where the tallest girder railway bridge in the country (72 metres above the riverbed) is being laid.
