Outgoing MP Pawan Bansal’s driver was allegedly beaten up today by a shopkeeper in Mani Majra main market. A section of businessmen in the market, however, claimed he had hurled abuses at them and threatened them along with a group of persons.

Man arrested for stealing car within hours of crime

A Mohali resident was allegedly caught within hours of his stealing a Maruti car from a Sector 34 house in the wee hours here today. He was allegedly trying to steal another car in Sector 22 when the first one developed a snag.

Low water pressure hits life

Residents of various parts of the city today complained of low water pressure since Monday evening. Residents of certain areas in Sectors 38, 38(West), 36, 35, 34 and 21 have complained of problems in water supply.

Three booked for attempt to murder

The police has booked three persons on charges of attempt to murder. According to the police, Sunita, Mamta and her husband Satinder, all residents of Guru Nanak Colony here, were arrested last night for allegedly trying to kill Pappu, resident of the same area.

Man held for killing labourer
Mohali, March 17
Five days after the incident, the police here today arrested a person for running over a daily-wage labourer, Kishen Lal, and dumping him at a secluded spot to die.

The local cable operators have urged the municipal corporation to waive the proposed rent, which is to be charged from November 1999 onwards. Instead, they have agreed to pay full rental charges from June 2003.

The tug-of-war between the Executive Officer of the Municipal Council, Mr O.P. Sihag, and the People’s Voice God’s Voice (PVGV) has taken a new turn, with the former slapping a defamation case against the founder and convener of the PVGV, Dr B.L.
