The ire of the Kamboj community over their continued neglect in the political arena in Punjab will be faced by the major political parties during the Lok Sabha elections. The 32-lakh-strong secular community, comprising the Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims, constitutes 13 per cent of the total population of the state, has a dominating presence in 25 out of the 117 Assembly constituencies in the state.

Acting on a petition filed by a Mohali-based builder, a Division Bench of the high court has appointed Justice A.L. Bahri as arbitrator. In his petition, Dhandi Builders Limited had earlier sought directions to the state of Punjab and other respondents for quashing an order passed by an executive engineer with the Punjab Police Housing Corporation regarding the construction of certain house at Jalandhar.
