New Delhi, March 4
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today met Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh regarding the state’s demand for a special industrial package for the state on the pattern of the neighbouring states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal.

The Chief Minister, who had raised the issue with the Centre earlier also, conveyed that the attractive package to the neighbouring states was acting as a disincentive for coming of new industries to Punjab.

Sources said the Chief Minister told the minister that sensitive border state could face a flight of capital which would also have a negative bearing on the employment scenario.

The Chief Minister, who called on the Finance Minister at his residence, later left for Chandigarh.
