CJM’s daughter files case against in-laws Moga, February 21 Vijay Kumar and his father Kewal Malhotra of Amritsar were arrested yesterday while others named in an FIR lodged by Ms Savita, daughter of Mr J.K. Mattu, gave a slip to the raiding police party. The police has launched a massive hunt to nab them. The two were produced before Judicial Magistrate Tarsem Mangal, who remanded them in police custody. Savita, who got married to Mr Vijay Kumar four and a half months ago, in the FIR alleged that besides her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, Usha Malhotra, her husband’s brother Vinay Kumar, and other in-laws started harassing her for more dowry and threatened to kill her. Others named in the FIR included Sita Ram, his wife, Neeta, Vickey and wife, Mini, Ravat and wife, Sunita, and Vikrant, all residents of Tarn Taran. In the FIR, Savita also alleged that soon after her marriage her husband and other members of the in-law’s family started harassing her for more dowry even though his father did his best and even gave a car in the dowry. She said as her husband was away to New Delhi in connection with his studies, she came to stay with her parents a few days ago. On February 18, she was telephonically threatened for more dowry. The very next day, all accused named in the FIR forcibly entered the house of her father, while he was away to the court and severely beat up her, her mother, younger sister and uncle. Vinay Kumar even aimed his revolver at her to eliminate her. On raising an alarm they took to their heels and drove away in two waiting vehicles. |
