Bhardwaj to decide return of estranged leaders into BJP

The process for the return of estranged party men into the BJP will finally get underway with the state executive of the party authorising Mr Suresh Bhardwaj and Mr Mohinder Pande, president and general secretary, respectively, to decide the cases on merit.

Bhardwaj to decide return of estranged leaders
into BJP

Shimla, February 21
The process for the return of estranged party men into the BJP will finally get underway with the state executive of the party authorising Mr Suresh Bhardwaj and Mr Mohinder Pande, president and general secretary, respectively, to decide the cases on merit.

The two leaders will hold talks with all concerned and take a decision after taking into confidence the constituency and district units. Although informal talks had been going on with the expelled leaders at various levels for the quite sometime, nothing concrete had emerged because the clash of interests of senior leaders.

Mr O.P. Kohli, national secretary and in charge of the party affairs in the state, had suggested that the two senior leaders could remove the irritants by talking to the rival groups.

In Kangra district, Mr Shanta Kumar, a former Union minister, has taken the initiative to end factionalism by patching up the differences between Dr Rajan Sushant and Ms Sarveen Chaudhary. In Kulu district, Mr Maheshwar Singh is not averse to the homecoming of expelled leader Mr Gobind Thakur, and Mr Chander Sain, other prominent leader of the district, is also not likely to adopt a tough stand on the issue.

Meanwhile, senior party leaders do not foresee much problems in the homecoming of expelled leaders, except in Hamirpur and Solan.

District Election Officer Sirmaur, M.L. Sharma, said that one more opportunity had been given to voters who could not get their identity cards made. They could get photo-identity-cards prepared at selected places in Sirmaur district. He added that photographs for this purpose would be taken at Dadahu, Pachhad, Renuka and Rajgarh on February 29 and March 1.

For Nahan tehsil, Nohra subtehsil, Ronhat subtehsil, Kamarau subtehsil it will be on March 3 and March 4, while for Paonta and Shillai tehsils it will be held on March 6.
