Sonia lays foundation stone of Guru Tegh Bahadur Smarak
New Delhi, February 18
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the Guru Tegh Bahadur Smarak at the Singhu border on National Highway No 1. The memorial will be built on 3.5 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 6.62 crore. It will be completed by July 2005.

CM inaugurates 132 KV sub-station in Bhiwani
Bhiwani, February 18
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala, said that 71 new sub-stations had been set up and the capacity of 240 sub-stations had been increased at a cost of Rs 532 crore in order to improve the power supply in the state. The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating a 132 KV sub-station in the industrial area of Bhiwani.

Three of Tehsildar office held for taking bribe
New Delhi, February 18
The Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi Government arrested three persons, identified as Mahesh Chander, Kanoongo and Harish Chand Khulbe, employed in the office of the Tehsildar, Notification Branch in Kashmere Gate area, for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 2,100 as bribe.

Sonepat remains waterless for 24 hours

The entire city of Sonepat, having a population of more than two lakhs, remained without water for 24 hours at a stretch following the disruption in the drinking water supply system yesterday.

Two scooter-borne youths snatched Rs 65,000 from an employee of a manufacturing unit here yesterday. Mahila HVP leader held for selling stolen stereo

A mahila leader of the Haryana Vikas Party was caught red-handed while disposing of a stolen stereo at an accessory shop in local Sector-14 today. The police took her into custody. A number of stolen articles of car accessories have reportedly been recovered from her possession.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has set up an inquiry into last night’s incident in which a commercial building suffered severe damage during construction of an underground tunnel, following which emergency evacuations were carried out.
