Pakistan is under renewed pressure from the United States of America to divulge the exact details that may have emerged following the interrogation of its six nuclear scientists who were detained by the Pakistani authorities following disclosures that Islamabad had proliferated nuclear technology.
Diplomatic observers here say that the USA has also provided evidence to Pakistan that its scientists were involved in nuclear proliferation.
The evidence of involvement of Pakistani scientists in exporting the nuclear technology to countries like Iran, Libya and North Korea was brought out by Secretary of State Colin Powell in Washington recently.
As renewed investigations into the allegations of Pakistan’s tainted nuclear scientists get into top gear, more skeletons are likely to tumble out of Pakistani cupboard.
Pakistan has confirmed that six senior scientists affiliated with the country’s nuclear programme have been arrested and are under investigation to determine whether they independently provided nuclear weapon technology or assistance to Iran, Libya and North Korea.
