Rainfall:
Weather was mainly dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell in Uttar Pradesh, rose in west Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: They were markedly below normal in east Uttar Pradesh, appreciably below normal in Punjab, below normal in Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 0.3°C recorded at Amritsar.

Forecast valid until the morning of January 7 2004: Rain or snow will occur at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in east Uttar Pradesh.

Low temperature warning: Ground frost is likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh during the next two nights.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.
