Honoured: Prof Jasbir Singh Sabar, Head of Bhagat Ravidass Chair of Guru Nanak Dev University, was honoured with Sant Shiromani Ravidass Ratna Award by the Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademy, New Delhi, in recognition of his social service and literary activities. This was stated in a press note on Monday.

foundation stone
: Mr. D.K. Tiwari, MC Commissioner, on Monday laid the foundation stone of a project launched for increasing the capacity of the sewerage disposal plant here. This was stated in a press note issued by Mr Kamal Kant, Executive Officer.

Hoshiarpur
Snatched: Three motorcycle borne persons reportedly snatched gold chain from Mrs Parkash Kaur, of the local Model Colony while she was going from a gurdwara to her house on Sunday. The police has registered a case.

Stone laid: Mr Romesh Chander Dogra, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Punjab, laid a foundation stone for a bus stand at Dasuya, 40 km from here on Monday. He said 12 counters would be constructed, besides toilet blocks for men and women.

Gang busted: The police claimed to have busted a two-member gang of vehicle thieves with their arrest on Monday. Stolen vehicles have been recovered. They have been identified as Narinder Singh of Badiana village and Wilson Masih of Chittewali village.

Elected
: The following have been elected office bearers of the local Rotary Club: president Mr Ved Parkash Jindal and secretary Mr Raj Kumar Jindal.

Injured: Two persons were seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a bus near the Naudhrani road on Tuesday. Jaswinder Singh and Amanpreet Singh, who were coming to Malerkotla, have been hospitalised.

Dharna
: Residents of Sunder Nagar and activists of the Shiv Sena staged a dharna here on Monday against the municipal authorities. Mr Yog Raj Sharma, district president of the Shiv Sena, alleged that the drinking water being supplied to the residents was not fit for consumption and was contaminated.

CHETNA CAMP: A two-day camp on mashroom cultivation was held for women of 10 self-help groups at Auhar near here. The camp which concluded on Monday, was held by Chetna in collaboration with the Barthin centre of the Palampur university.

Anniversary
: In order to give a facelift to the famous hill station on its 150th anniversary, a meeting of representatives of various organisations was organised on Tuesday. Dr G.S. Dhillon, Principal and Director, Dalhousie Public School, presided over the meeting and Dr J.S. Chandel was nominated as the coordinator of the Dalhousie Coordination Committee. The committee will draw up concrete proposals on various schemes.

LABOURER DEAD: Sanjay Malik, a labourer from Bihar, died when he was hit by a boulder while digging. A case has been registered.

Nahan
KISAN RALLY: The Bhartia Kisan Union will launch a nationwide movement to fight WTO and anti-farmer policies of the Indian government. A kisan mahapanchayat has been called on December 23 at Kisan Ghat, New Delhi. Mr Rakesh Tikeit, the BKU spokesman said here on Monday.
