Raids on Cong MLAs’ premises
Varinder Walia

Amritsar, December 8
The crisis in Punjab Pradesh Congress is likely to be deepen further as Mr Swinder Singh Kathunangal, MLA, met the Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, in New Delhi to complain that the Vigilance Bureau had sent revenue patwaris to collect information about the ‘illegal colonies’ being cut on the Ajnala road, here today.

However, the Chief Minister feigned ignorance about the raids by any official of the Vigilance Department on the premises of Mr Kathunangal. Mr Kathunangal said the Chief Minister assured him that the matter would be investigated. Mr T.P.S. Sandhu, SP Vigilance, also denied that any raid had been conducted in this regard.

Similarly there were allegations that a gas agency of another MLA from Amritsar was raided by the Food and Civil Supplies Department. However, Mr Avtar Henri, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, said it was not in his knowledge. He, however, hastened to add that it could be a routine checking by the department. Mr Ajit Singh, DFSC, also feigned ignorance of any raid. The DFSC, however, said his subordinate might have conducted some raid about which he had no knowledge.
