Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali telephoned Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today to welcome him to Islamabad for the 12th SAARC summit next month.
In the five-minute conversation, both Prime Ministers expressed satisfaction at the positive bilateral developments between the two countries over the past few weeks, which included the ceasefire along the LoC, the international border and in Siachen.
Mr Jamali spoke about the warm welcome that awaited Mr Vajpayee in Pakistan next month and the latter reciprocated, saying that he looked forward to his visit.
According to official sources, Mr Vajpayee recalled his last telephonic conversation with Mr Jamali in April when he had stressed the importance of people-to-people contact and greater economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that they had made progress on these fronts.
