Venkaiah rules out early poll New Delhi, December 4 “I want to clearly say that there is no proposal or even thinking going on for early Lok Sabha elections,” Mr Naidu told newspersons here. The BJP President maintained that the party would utilise the 10-month time left for the next General Election for pushing more developmental activities across the country. Commenting on the outcome in the Assembly poll, an elated Mr Naidu said, “The victory clearly indicates that the party is moving in the right direction to achieve its target of attaining 300 seats on its own in the next Lok Sabha elections.” “I have said earlier also and I am saying it now again that the outcome of this election will impact the politics across the country and there will be political realignment,” Mr Naidu said, while refusing to elaborate. Regretting that the party could not do well in Delhi, Mr Naidu said the party leadership would analyse the failure and take a lesson from it. Making a special comment on the outcome in Chhattisgarh, Mr Naidu said, “The thumping victory in Chhattisgarh is significant for us as the party defeated the Congress despite Mr Ajit Jogi using all tricks available with his dirty trick department and misusing official machinery.” He also took a dig at those who had been saying that the NDA was gaining at the cost of the BJP. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister before leaving for his foreign tour, held a meeting at his residence with top leaders of the party, including Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, Mr Naidu, Mr Jaswant Singh, Mr Arun Jaitley and Mr Pramod Mahajan on the outcome of the assembly poll. |
