17 Punjab district police chiefs shifted Chandigarh, November 4 The chiefs of 17 of the 23 police districts have either been replaced or sent to other districts. The districts which have not been touched are Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jagraon, Batala, Gurdaspur and Moga. Interestingly, Mr Paramraj Singh Umranangal, district police chief, Patiala, who has been investigating the high-profile Daler Mehndi case, has also been replaced but not been given any posting. The posting orders of eight other SSPs among those replaced today will be issued later. They are Ms Gurpreet Kaur Deo (Hoshiarpur), Mr R.N. Dhoke (Kapurthala), Mr P.K. Sinha (Ferozepore), B.Chandra Shekhar (Fatehgarh Sahib), Mr Surinder Pal Singh (Muktsar), Mr Ishwar Singh (Bathinda), Mr Harpreet Singh Sidhu (Jalandhar) and Mrs Shashi Prabha Dwivedi( Majitha). The Capt Amarinder Singh Government has rewarded Mr Surinder Pal Singh, SP (Vigilance Bureau), who has been relentlessly
investigating the cases of corruption against the Badals and their close associates, beside various Akali ministers for the past over one year. He has not only been posted as the district police chief of Ropar, where the challan against the Badals is to be filed in court but has also been allowed to retain the additional charge of his present post. Mr G.S Bhullar has been shifted from Ropar to Jalandhar in place of Mr Harpreet Singh Sidhu, whose posting orders have not been issued yet. Khattra (Muktsar), Mr Kapil Dev (Bathinda), Mr Pramod Bhan (Khanna), Mr Kulshinder Singh (Faridkot) and Mr R.P.S. Bajwa (Majitha). Mr A.K. Pande has been appointed Commandant, 82nd
Battalion PAP, Chandigarh and Mr Inderjit Singh Randhawa as SP, Vigilance Bureau, Ferozepore Mr Amrik Singh had been named SP, Vigilance Bureau, Bathinda, in place of Baljinder Singh, whose new posting orders would be issued later. All transferred officers have been asked to join their new postings by tomorrow noon and report compliance to the IG (Headquarters). |
