No change in VHP plan, says Singhal Kanpur, October 11 Mr Singhal told newsmen here today that he was only obeying the orders of the saints in taking out the march. On the HC’s order to maintain status quo in Ayodhya, he said the order would have owed significance, if it was given before August 22 but now it had no meaning and, moreover, it had raised several doubts. Warning that if Ram bhaktas going to Ayodhya were harassed in any way, immediate reaction would be taken by the organisation. The VHP had also written to the Railways to provide extra coaches in trains for the convenience of the Ram bhaktas to reach Ayodhya, he told mediamen and added that about 5,00,000 bhaktas were expected to reach Ayodhya. Lucknow: A day after the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court asked the state government to maintain status quo at the Ramjanmabhoomi complex at Ayodhya, the state government today initiated steps to thwart Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s proposed meeting of October 17. Paramilitary forces were fanning out around Ayodhya and more than 2,000 activists were detained today as they headed for the town to participate in the VHP’s October 17 Ram darshan temple campaign. The Centre has also despatched over 80 companies of the Central Para-Military Forces (CPMF) to Uttar Pradesh and the troops would be deployed by tomorrow, sources said. |
