Dengue well under control, claims MCD

The Municipal Commissioner, Mr Rakesh Mehta, today claimed that the dengue situation was well under control. The MCD control room, which is working round the clock, has received information with regard to only one case of dengue from Jamia Nagar, admitted in Loin’s Hospital in Defence Colony.

Financier found shot dead in car
Ghaziabad, October 10
A financier was shot dead in broad daylight while a cotton mill worker was stabbed to death in Ghaziabad in two different incidents yesterday. Both murders, one after the other, have caused panic in the city. Anil Tyagi of KB-12 Kavi Nagar was a financier who used to operate from his office in G-145 Sanjay Nagar.

Father of five killed by sarpanch, others
Sonepat, October 10
Jagan Nath, father of five children, sustained fatal injuries when he was attacked with lathis and other arms by the sarpanch, his brother and several accomplices at Kabirpar village about 3 km from here last night. According to a report, he was rushed to a private Puja nursing home where he succumbed to his injuries.

Three held for counterfeit currency racket
New Delhi, October 10
With the arrest of three persons, the East district police today claimed to have busted a gang running a currency racket and seized counterfeit currency worth Rs 1.1 lakh of Rs 100 and Rs 50 denomination from them. The accused Shravan Mahato and Raj Kishore, residents of LBS Hospital, Khichri Pur and Dharmesh Kumar, resident of Laxmi Nagar were arrested. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Nuzhat Hassan said that on October 9, one of the accused Shravan went to a market in Khichri Pur with Rs 100 and bought some fruit from a vendor.

Youth’s body found
Sonepat: The police have recovered the body of a youth, Rajbir, from the route to the fields at Bidhal village, about 25 km from here last night.

New BCCI post for C K Khanna

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Mr C K Khanna as the vice-chairman, Communication and Co-Ordination Committee of the BCCI. Mr Khanna, a senior vice-president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, is also the vice-chairman of the National Cricket Academy. DDCA general secretary S P Bansal and N K Batra will be the members while BCCI secretary S K Nair will be the convenor.
