CBI quizzes UP officials
Taj Corridor row

Lucknow, August 24
Investigating the Taj Corridor controversy on a Supreme Court directive, the CBI questioned Uttar Pradesh Environment Director I.P. Singh and other officials on the funding of the controversial project and collected documents pertaining to it.

Mr I.P. Singh was summoned by the CBI yesterday and was quizzed for over two hours to ascertain who released Rs 17 crore for the project and about the alleged irregularities, sources said today.

The CBI also collected documents pertaining to the controversial project from officials of the state pollution control board, who were also questioned, they said.

The questioning, pertaining to the release of funds for the project, assumes significance as it follows a Supreme Court directive to the CBI to interrogate “important persons” in the Taj Corridor controversy.

The agency had already questioned the suspended Principal Secretary (Environment) R.K. Sharma. — PTI
