Four masked desperadoes intruded into the Sultanpuri house of Mr Rajinder Jain, a paper merchant of Chawri Bazar, and escaped with cash and jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees after attacking him and threatening his wife and children late last night.

Couldn’t get dowry; gets his deserts
Noida, August 18
The husband and in-laws of a young housewife allegedly tried to burn her and later threw her out of the house in Delhi due to her failure to bring Rs 5 lakh as dowry. The police have arrested the husband, Rajiv Kumar, after her father Vinode Kumar, a resident of Sector 12 here, filed an FIR in the Sector 24 police station.

Former minister’s brothers commits suicide
New Delhi

Naresh Chand (50), the brother of former Delhi Industries Minister Narendra Nath, allegedly committed suicide at his residence early today. He allegedly hanged himself from a fan in his room in Farsh Bazar area of East Delhi and was found dead at around 6 am when the family members found the body.

It’s curtains for SNF factory
New Delhi, August 18
Modern Food Industries (India) Limited has decided to close down its Supplementary Nutritional Foods factory at C-4, Lawrence Road Industrial Area, Delhi. The factory, which employed 71 workmen, had been lying idle since March-end.

Chautala lays stone of Technology Park
Faridabad, August 18
The foundation of an information technology centre, known as Haryana Technology Park, was laid in a plot on National Highway 2 yesterday by the Chief Minister of Haryana. It is claimed that the park which will be ready in the next three to four years will have an investment of about Rs 300 crore and give job opportunities to 24,000 persons.

Royal Rangers earn full points

Royal Rangers defeated Ahbab 2-0 to record their second victory in the Super Six League of the Delhi Soccer Association-SAIL A Division Football League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium on Monday. The goals came once in each half. Medio Dio Siam scored the first goal in the 26th minute.
