British couple fools security forces
Ashok Sethi And Pawan Kumar

Wagah, (Amritsar), July 19
Many eyebrows were raised as a British couple in their Toyota car gave the slip to security agencies manning the Indo-Pakistan international park at noon today.

According to information available here the security lapse was discovered when the BSF personnel at the check post were verifying the entry of people crossing into India with Immigration and Customs authorities after the closure of the gates in the evening.

The British couple Nashwar Ali Sheikh and his wife Hasina Sheikh entered the Indian side in their navy blue Toyota car (V2-667KDM) with passport numbers 40076156 (Nashwarali) and 40076155 (Hasina) and got them registered with the BSF authorities and later drove straight to Jalandhar en route to Delhi. Later the intelligence agencies and Customs authorities flashed message in Punjab to nab the British couple who gave the slip to the Immigration and Customs authorities.

This serious lapse has raised many questions on the efficiency of Indian security agencies posted at highly sensitive international border. It has been reliably learnt that the couple was not aware of the various formalities before getting them cleared for onward journey. It is also learnt that after the police alert on the GT road the British couple was stopped near Jalandhar for questioning.
