Our Correspondent and PTI

Lucknow, June 21
Illustration by Sandeep JoshiThe Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Ms Mayawati, has ordered an inquiry into the construction work started without the prior approval of the state government for developing the Taj Heritage Corridor opposite to Taj Mahal in Agra. “As soon as I came to know about the construction I ordered to immediately stop the work,” she told reporters here today. Ms Mayawati said the Chief Secretary, Mr D.S. Bagga, would hold an inquiry into the matter and whosoever will be found guilty would be punished.

She clarified that stopping of the work at the site would have no impact on the Special Economic Zone, which was being developed by the state government to attract foreign investment. The Chief Minister said stern action would be taken against the guilty officials once the report was submitted to her.
