Our Correspondent

Kapurthala, June 21
Mr Rajan Kashyap, Chief Secretary, Punjab, today said he had not received any complaint against Mr Rajesh Chhabra, the then Principal Secretary Irrigation, regarding the multi-crore irrigation scam in which former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has been questioned by the Vigilance police.

Talking to newsmen here, Mr Kashyap said the Punjab Government had been equipping the administration with modern scientific equipment which would help check corruption.

To ensure fresh water in the Kali Bein, Mr Kashyap announced the release of 200 cusec in the rivulet from the Mukerian hydel project. He also disclosed that a micro-hydel power plant of 3.5 MW would be set up on the Kanjli rivulet to generate power in private sector.

He said saplings would be planted in a radius of 25 feet on banks of the Kali for its beautification. The Punjab Pollution Control Board had been directed to check the discharge of effluents in Kanjli from industrial units.
