Amritsar, June 20
As per a directive of the Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission, a meeting of the SGPC executive, held at Anandpur Sahib today, decided to sack all employees above the age of 60 years.

Though the decision will not apply to Jathedars of the Takhts, yet Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti and Giani Bhagwan Singh will lose their jobs as Granthi of the Golden Temple and Head Granthi, Akal Takht, respectively. However, Jathedar Vedanti will continue as Jathedar of the Akal Takht.

After the meeting, Mr Kirpal Singh Badungar, SGPC chief, told the Press that there were about two dozen employees who would be affected by the decision.

The SGPC executive also decided to preserve the Sikh heritage at all costs. Mr Badungar said the majestic building of Bunga Ramgarhia would be preserved in its original shape.

A three-member committee had been constituted for the purpose.

Similarly, the ‘theh’ relating to the great warrior, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, at Fatehgarh Sahib would also be preserved.
