Rain in HP
Tribune News Service

Shimla, June 4
A dust storm followed by brisk showers here brought down the mercury significantly, providing the much-needed respite to the people who were reeling under oppressive heat for the past one-week.

The showers, which lashed the region in the afternoon, also doused the numerous forest fires raging in the Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts. The brief spell of rain will also help ease the water crisis as the farmers will not require water for irrigation over the next two to three days.

UNI adds: The rain brought down the day temperature which had reached a maximum of 30.20C this afternoon, six degrees above normal.
