Jalandhar, May 16
In a broad daylight robbery, 11 masked robbers looted over Rs 1.10 lakh at gunpoint from a branch of the State Bank of India in Chitti village, near here, today.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m., when the robbers, equipped with countrymade pistols, reached the bank on their motor cycles and snatched the service rifle from security guard, who got injured while trying to resist them. Later, they entered the bank premises and forced the cashier to open the strong room at gunpoint, police sources said.

One of the robbers put all the cash in a bag before fleeing from the place along with his accomplices. Panic gripped the staff who immediately reported the matter to the police.
