Police to go in for DNA test of foetus

In the face of allegations of the involvement of Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani Tripathi’s wife in the murder of Madhumita Shukla, a poetess, the police has decided to go in for a DNA test of the foetus after a post-mortem report confirmed that the victim was six months pregnant.

In the dock over the escape of the local Judicial Magistrate, Mr SS Bhardwaj, from his Sector 22 house after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 7 lakh from a litigant, the Central Bureau of Investigation in a facesaving exercise today said the Judicial Magistrate was not in their “custody” when he escaped.

PM spurs scientists to combat terror

In a veiled reference to the US and its allies, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today lamented that the country’s neighbours, guilty of missile and nuclear proliferation, did not attract sanctions and called for development of in-house defence and dual-use technologies, the potential of which has been graphically demonstrated in recent wars.

Sodhi, proprietor of the Sodhi erectors, has been booked by the Bathinda police on charges of committing another EPF scam in the Lehra Mohabbat Thermal Plant.

Agni-I missile ‘ready’ for induction
New Delhi, May 11
A top defence scientist today indicated that India’s nuclear 700-km- range Agni-I ballistic missile was not only all set for induction into the armed forces but that the country was also making major forays in developing land and naval unmanned aerial vehicles and futuristic high-power laser weapon systems.
