Southern Iraq, March 23
US forces surged across several fronts today to within 100 miles of Baghdad, but the battlefield success was tempered by news that a US missile might have downed a British plane and that an American soldier was suspected behind a deadly grenade attack on his comrades.

Anti-war protests rock USA
New York, March 23

At least 80 persons were arrested today when demonstrators clashed with the police at the end of a rally here against the US-led strikes in Iraq. Nearly 200,000 anti-war protesters marched through the streets in the USA.  

Anti-war demonstrations continue in Asia to protest against the US war on Iraq. Protest marches and demonstrations were carried out in major capital cities of Asia, including Bangkok, Dhaka, Colombo and Islamabad, in response to America's war on Iraq. (28k, 56k)

Jordan, Italy expel Iraqi diplomats
Amman (Jordan), March 23
Jordan has expelled five Iraqi diplomats after Washington asked more than 60 countries to shut down Iraqi diplomatic missions and dismiss their diplomats, an Iraqi Embassy official said today.
