UAE may deport more ultras: Advani New Delhi, March 21 Speaking to reporters on the sideline of the biennial conference of Civil Defence and Home Guards, Mr Advani, when asked whether deportation of more accused persons was on the cards, said, “I cannot say that, but efforts are on to contact the UAE authorities in this regard.” Musatafa Dossa, main accused in the Mumbai serial blast case, is the eighth person to be deported by the UAE in recent months. The deportation of terrorists and criminals from the UAE would help curb the practice of the accused fleeing to the Emirates and Pakistan, Mr Advani said. Asked about the deportation of Abu Salem, the Union Home Minister said, “We are hopeful that once his trial in Portugal ends, he will be handed over to India.” Earlier, addressing the conference, Mr Advani said, “We have reached a stage where the government and the people can and have to work together for security and development.” “After Independence, for a long time we have believed that national security is the responsibility of the government and the administration alone,” he said. Security cannot be handled by the administrative machinery and Army alone, the Deputy Prime Minister said and emphasised that people’s involvement was essential for security and development.
