Amritsar, February 20
In a significant development, Vickey Bhatia, key middleman in the multi-crore kidney scam, today surrendered before the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

With his surrender, the SIT is likely to go into the depth of the case as he was responsible for hundreds of donors for the kidney transplants.

The SIT has already initiated proceedings against him to get him declared as proclaimed offender along with a lawyer, George, on February 22. However, Dr Bhupinder Singh Sandhu, Dr Bhushan Aggarwal, Dr P.K. Jain, all accomplices of Dr Parveen Sareen, prime accused in the scam, Mr Hardyal Mehta, manager of Kakkar Hospital, and Kulwinder Singh, a computer operator of Dr Sareen, could not be arrested despite a number of raids conducted by the SIT.

When contacted, Mr Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, SP (City), and member of the SIT confirmed that Vickey Bhatia had surrendered before the SIT this evening.
