Mr Tarlochan Singh has the distinction of being the first member of the minority Sikh community to head the NCM and will have a tenure of three years till 2006. He had earlier served as Press Secretary to then President Giani Zail Singh.

Dr M.S. Usmani, an educationist, will be the new Vice-Chairman of the NCM.

Other members of the reconstituted NCM are the Ven. Bhante Arya N. Srei Sasai, Mr V. V. Augustine, Lieut-Gen A.M. Sethna, Mr Ahmed Rashid Sherwani and Mrs K. Santhaa Reddy.

General Sethna of the dwindling and minuscule Parsee community is the only other member from the previous NCM to be retained in the reconstituted one.
