Kidney scam: CM promises action

The Punjab Chief Minister today raised an accusing finger at the previous SAD-BJP government for its direct/indirect involvement in the multi-crore kidney scam. “How is this possible that this scam continued without coming to the notice of the state government. We will get to the bottom of the matter.

“We are not bothered about the strike call given by the Punjab chapter of the Indian Medical Association. How can a doctor play with a poor man’s life by taking away his kidneys either for a song or even without telling him and without caring for his healthcare afterwards. It is criminal. And we will not spare anyone who is involved. We will also make public if involvement of politicians is proved by the report of our Special Investigation Team (SIT),” he added.

The Chief Minister also said that the Union Cabinet Secretary had convened a meeting of state secretaries dealing with Irrigation and Canals in New Delhi tomorrow on the sharing of river waters.

“This meeting may have been convened in response to my letter to the Prime Minister on the issue of the SYL.
