Sidhu case: SC returns reference
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, January 13
A presidential reference on the removal of former Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu was today returned unanswered by the Supreme Court.

A Bench comprising Mr Justice S. Rajendra Babu, Mr Justice Arun Kumar and Mr Justice G.P. Mathur, held that the matter need not be answered by the apex court as Mr Sidhu had already given an undertaking that he would not claim any retirement benefit. The former PPSC Chairman has already attained superannuation.

The matter was referred to the Supreme Court after the Punjab Government sent it to President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for appropriate action under Article 317 of the Constitution.
