New Delhi, January 10
Firming up its strategy for the Himachal Pradesh elections, the Congress today appointed former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh as convener of the campaign committee in Himachal Pradesh.

PCC chief Vidya Stokes, former PCC chief Sat Mahajan, former MP K D Sultanpuri, Mr Kaul Singh, Mr Chander Kumar, Mr Harsh Mahajan and Mr Ramlal Thakur, all MLAs, are the other members of the campaign committee.

The Congress high-command’s decision is being seen as a move to mollify Mr Singh who wanted a bigger role in the elections. Supporters of Mr Singh had been pleading the high-command to go to the polls ``with a leader.’’
