Joshi rules out snap poll
Pondicherry, December 31
Senior BJP leader and Union HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi today ruled out the possibility of snap poll to the Lok Sabha. “The NDA government at the Centre would complete its full term and there was no need for a snap,” he told reporters here. PTI

Day curfew lifted
Jaipur, December 31
The indefinite curfew clamped in Gangapur city of Swai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, following violent clashes between two communities last week, was today lifted for the day. According to police sources the curfew would however remain in force during night as a precautionary measure. UNI

Rs 5 cr on Veerapan
Bangalore, December 31
The Karnataka Government today announced an increase in the reward on the head of forest brigand Veerappan from Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore. Replying to a debate on Nagappa issue in the Legislative Assembly, Home Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge said the reward would be given to anybody, including NGO and the police, who gave information leading to the capture of the bandit. New ITBP chief
New Delhi, December 31
Ramesh Chandra Agarwal, a 1968 batch UP cadre IPS officer, has been made Director-General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Mr Agarwal, who was Special Director-General with the Border Security Force (BSF), took over as ITBP chief today, succeeding Mr S.C. Chaube, who has been made Director-General of the CRPF. TNS
