8 die as jeep falls into gorge

Shimla, December 22
Eight persons were killed when a jeep carrying them rolled into a 300-foot-deep gorge at Kemachandroli, 34 km from Chopal, in Shimla district last evening, the police said today.

The victims, who died on the spot, were identified as Nand Ram (40), Virender Singh(19), Pradeep (12), Anjana (16, Kewal Ram (24), Vinod Kumar (15), Suresh Kumar (19), and Gopal Singh (17).

The bodies have been handed over to the relatives. The driver of the ill-fated jeep is reported to have jumped to safety. UNI
