‘Angel’ wins hearts, wears crown
Harare, December 15
An African-American, Ms Morgan Chitty, has won the 2002 Miss Malaika African beauty pageant held in Zimbabwe this weekend. The 22-year-old woman from Chicago, in the USA, beat 27 other hopefuls mainly from African countries last night. Ms Rosinda Manuel of Angola was the runner-up while Ms Belinda Mokako of the Democratic Republic of Congo came third. Malaika means angel in Swaihili, an African language spoken in several eastern and central African countries. AFP
