11 pilgrims die in road mishap

Eleven pilgrims were killed and 32 injured when the truck ( RJ 13 G-2001) they were travelling in, which was bound for Lahra Dhurkot in Bathinda district from here, met with an accident reportedly due to the failure of brakes near Lal Dhang on the Himachal-Haryana border today.

Six of the injured have been shifted to the PGI, Chandigarh.

While seven persons died on the spot, four succumbed to their injuries on way to the local Civil Hospital.

According to the driver, Jagsir Singh ( 65), the truck was carrying pilgrims for the Kapal Mochan mela and had today paid obeisance at Gurdwara Paonta Sahib.
