Cong seeks Assembly session in UP New Delhi, November 2 AICC treasurer Moti Lal Vora, who is in charge of Uttar Pradesh affairs, said the Mayawati government had been reduced to a minority after the withdrawal of support by dissident BJP legislators and Independents. The Governor should convene a special session of the Vidhan Sabha, he said. The Congress, which is watching the developments in the state, would take a stand if a special session of the Assembly was convened. But the Congress has apparently not conveyed its support to the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh in its efforts to form an alternative to the Mayawati government. Congress spokesman Anand Sharma yesterday said that the party was committed to consolidation of secular forces in the country. However, the party was averse to horse-trading and securing defections from other parties, he added. |
