Krishna tenders apology to SC

New Delhi, October 28
Abandoning defiance, Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna today tendered an “unconditional apology” to the Supreme Court for not complying with its orders for the release of the Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu and said the state had started releasing 10,000 cusecs daily.

The tendering of the apology and steps in compliance with the apex court’s directive pleased the Bench comprising Chief Justice B.N. Kirpal, Mr Justice Y.K. Sabharwal and Mr Justice Arijit Pasayat, which observed that “We are happy to know that a constitutional crisis has blown over.”

However, the court took the apology on record without accepting it, saying it would verify the water release by Karnataka as the Chief Minister’s affidavit was silent on that aspect. PTI
