Kisan adalats to ‘try Congress govts’ Gurgaon, October 22 The national president of the BJKM, Prof Mahadeorao Shiwankar, who was here last evening en route to Alwar district in Rajasthan, confirmed the development to TNS. The immediate provocation is stated to be the mismanagement of relief funds given by the Centre in connection with famine by the state governments. The decision was taken at a meeting of top leaders of the morcha at the BJP national headquarters on Monday last. The move is understood to have the approval of the BJP leadership. Although the morcha has targeted all Congress-ruled states, like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and the Congress-NCP coalition government in Maharashtra will be under special focus as will be Bihar. According to Prof Shiwankar, the farmers will hold a “regular courts” where the grievances of farmers will be taken up. The jury will frame charges and of it announces capital punishment against the Chief Minister concerned to their effigies would be hanged. The mock trials will begin from Madhya Pradesh on October 23 and will be held in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan on October 26. The trial with regard to the Rajasthan Government will be held in Delhi. The morcha wants to embarrass the Congress leadership in light of the clean chit given to the Rajasthan Government by Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Prof Shiwankar said Mrs Gandhi had eulogised the Congress government in Rajasthan even though more than 20 persons had died due to lack of food. The funds and food made available by the Centre was not channelised to meet the needs of the poor, he added. |
