BKU (E) threat to stop rail traffic

Bathinda, October 20
In protest against the decision of the Punjab Government to stop free power supply to farmers, the Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta) said they would stop rail traffic all over the state on October 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mr Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan, state general secretary of the BKU (E), in a written statement issued here today after the meeting of the state executive said the farmers were pained to learn that the government had imposed power tarrif on them. While demanding compensation for the drought-hit farmers, Mr Kokri Kalan said seven kisan organisations would observe Punjab bandh on October 29.
