Joining
hands for Congress betterment Chandigarh, September 18 Mr Bhajan Lal has been addressing a series of rallies after becoming the chief of the HPCC. Mr Hooda, who was replaced by Mr Bhajan Lal, and Mr Birender Singh, who was named as one of the probables for the HPCC chief’s post till Mr Bhajan Lal pulled out a surprise on him, had refrained from attending any of these meetings. Their absence from the rallies had made it clear that unity in the Haryana Congress was difficult to achieve. When asked what made him decide to attend tomorrow’s meeting, Mr Hooda explained that the exercise being carried out by the party to put up before the Delimitation Commission was an important matter which he would not like to ignore. “I have always said that I shall take part in AICC programmes and any other programme which will further the interest of the party in the state”, Mr Hooda said. Similarly, Mr Birender Singh, himself a former HPCC chief, said that a line must be drawn between the events being organised to felicitate Mr Bhajan Lal on becoming the HPCC chief and the programmes which were genuinely important. Tomorrow’s meeting, according to Mr Birender Singh, falls in the latter category and merits his attendance. |
