Shastri award for Infosys chief
New Delhi, September 11
Infosys Technologies Chief Mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy, has been chosen for the third Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration and Management Sciences for 2001 for his outstanding achievements in the field of institution building.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a citation and a plaque and would be presented by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on October 1 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mr Anil Shastri, chairman of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management told reporters here today. Crediting Mr Narayana Murthy for building one of the most valuable companies of the world, Mr Shastri said he “is an icon of the IT industry and has made the country proud.” The award, instituted in 1999 by the LBSIM, was conferred on Management guru Prof C.K. Pralhad in 1999 and Mr Sam Pitroda of World-Tel in 2000. PTI
