Shivaji's statue desecrated
Nasik, August 26
Some unidentified persons desecrated a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Chandvad tehsil in the district early today, leading to tension in the town, the police said. The desecration of the statue at the Gram Panchayat office was noticed by some members of Shivneri Mitra Mandal, who informed the local MLA, Mr Shirish Kotwal, and the police. As the news of the desecration spread, a mob gathered near the Gram Panchayat office and damaged a tea kiosk and a motor cycle. PTI
